First class care for a first class community

Since 1997, Town East-Galloway Animal Clinic (located at 2860 North Galloway) has been serving the pet community.

Dr. Joe and Michelle Quinn moved to Sunnyvale over 20 years ago. “I like the small town atmosphere,” Dr. Quinn said, “and of course the quality of education for our kids. The community is so strong, and a polite place to live.”

Joe recalled a veterinarian he met while attending High School who had a remarkable influence over him. “This man changed my whole opinion of vets, as he was very nice and understanding,” said Dr. Quinn. “This great man was the main reason I decided to go to vet school.”

When asked why his business is so successful, Dr. Quinn replied, “People want to know you care for their pet. It’s more than a business. We know the pets and we like the pets. We treat their pet with the same care that they would.”

One bonus the clinic has is that both Husband and wife are working together. “It’s like getting two opinions for the price of one,” says Dr. Quinn.

Michelle Quinn, better known as Chelly, says, “We want people to know we treat the pets like our own. We offer state-of-the-art equipment and technology; tools that allow us to practice to peak performance.”

The clinic offers complete veterinary service including health care vaccines, well checks, and surgery of all types. The Quinns have a special relationship with an orthopedic surgeon for certain types of surgery. Dr. Quinn pointed out, “I would do five or six (orthopedic surgeries) in a year, whereas this guy does five or six per day. This means shorter time in surgery and shorter recovery time.” By utilizing in-clinic anesthesiology, pain medication, and postoperative and preoperative treatment, the cost is controlled thus saving the customer money.

The clinic also provides boarding and grooming services. Mindy Hamilton has been the clinic’s groomer for over 17 years. “If you check around that’s unheard of,” said Dr. Quinn. Longevity of employment is the norm as several employees have worked for the Quinns for more than 15 years.

“One of our vets, Keith Leakey, started with us in high school when he was at North Mesquite,” said Dr. Quinn. “Now he is a full vet with us. We’ve had several local students to go through our mentoring program. Keith worked here for 12 years and has been a vet here two years.”

“I always liked animals though I never had any as a kid,” said Dr. Leakey. “I love to work with both doctors. I started in the kennel with bathing, etc. The Quinn’s are more of a family. I’ve never worried that my boss is mad at me. It’s always, ‘How can we do this better?’ My wife and aunt work here. It’s truly a family affair.”

Jo Carlin, another longtime employee, has been with the Quinns for 17 years. Jo said, “I stayed with the same (clinic) because of the friendly atmosphere and the clients we have. I love working with the Quinns. I think it’s the willingness to help.”

Longtime customer, Shelley Rosebock said, “Dr. Quinn is the most wonderful vet I’ve ever come across. He is thorough. Every one of my animals has been taken care of here including my three dogs, YumYum, Angel and Gracie.”
